The most unkept cemetery I have ever been to. I was told the rental for the chapel was $300.00, which I paid in cash that moment. At which point I was given a receipt. The night before my husband's burial I was told the cost would be another $400. With no time to change the obituary for family to be notified. I was told the chapel would stay locked to guests if the additional funds weren't paid. Unbelievable and very unprofessional. I would bury one of my pets in this cemetery.

I am disgusted and appalled by the customer service and treatment I received from Fort Steuben Burial Estates. I visit my grandparents and parents grave/mausoleum 1-2 times a year. I live out of town and hope that when I purchase flowers twice a year for my grandparent’s grave and parents’ mausoleum that they are actually placed accordingly on the gravesites. I was shocked to visit this weekend and find that no flowers were on my grandparent’s gravesite. It appeared they were never put there. I immediately called and left a message for the office to call me Monday to find out why this had not happened.
At approximately 2:30 pm today, Monday, 6/16, I called to find out why I did not receive an update on this. The employee who answered the phone (name left out) was immediately defensive and very rude to me. Yes, a person representing loved ones at their cemetery. She went on to say that she did not know why the flowers were not there. They have had thefts and “things” come up missing in the cemetery. She also said they may have blown away. This excuse was used two years prior as well. It turns out they did not have the flowers out yet, they were late. I went on to tell her that this is not acceptable and I will continue to pursue this until a more appropriate answer is given. If I pay for a service, I expect the service to be provided. Once again, this was in poor taste and absolutely terrible customer service from someone in this type of position. If this is her standard protocol for treating grieving customers – WOW!!! How is this acceptable – EVER???
